REGISTRATIONS LIFE ON MARS TRAIL 29.03.2025.
The eighth edition of Croatia’s most famous trail race, Life on Mars Trail 2025, will take place on March 29, 2025, on the island of Pag. Registrations are now open and can be completed via the official link.
Year after year, the island of Pag attracts an increasing number of participants who enjoy its unique nature, stunning landscapes, and top-notch organization by Trekking League and the Tourist Board of Novalja. Life on Mars Trail’s recognition beyond Croatia is further confirmed by the prestigious title of European City of Sport 2025 in the category of cities with up to 25,000 inhabitants, awarded to Novalja at the European Parliament in Brussels. This title is a result of recognition by the non-profit organization ACES Europe, which highlights exceptional achievements in sports development, sports infrastructure, active tourism, and promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
Every year, Life on Mars Trail gathers over a thousand participants eager to experience the unique beauty of a landscape reminiscent of Mars. In its eighth edition, participants will be able to choose between three routes:
- Challenger – 25 km
- Active – 15 km
- Light – 7 km
“Last year, in collaboration with the Novalja Tourist Board, we added 11 kilometers of new trails from Žigljane to Metajna, so the total Life on Mars network now spans around 30 kilometers. This is practically the most visited Croatian trail outside the peak season,” emphasizes Šimun Cimerman, the race organizer.
The new routes will also be available the day after the event, allowing interested participants to further explore the attractive trails that are not yet part of the official trail this year.
The appeal of this trail lies primarily in its unique landscape shaped by the bora wind, creating scenes reminiscent of a rocky desert. “Geomorphologically, this is a terrain unlike anything you’d expect in Croatia. No other island has such a landscape – a vast expanse of rocky desert through which the trail passes. When you add our sea and the view of Velebit, it’s an incredible micro-location that delights and is incomparable to anything else on the Adriatic,” Cimerman emphasizes.
Registrations for Life on Mars Trail are going very well, and with favorable weather conditions, the organizers expect a potential record number of participants.
