OPENING OF THE ‘LIFE ON MARS 2’ TRAIL AND ECO ACTION
OPENING OF THE NEW ‘LIFE ON MARS 2’ TRAIL, ŽIGLJEN – METAJNA SECTION
DATE: May 25, 2024, Saturday at 11:00 AM
LENGTH (Žigljen – Metajna): 10 km with minimal ascents and descents (points 1-2-5-6-7 on the map)
STARTING LOCATION (point 1 on the map): Žigljen, turn onto the asphalt road (near the transformer station) 2 km before or after the ferry port (depending on the direction of arrival). After 700 m on the asphalt road, the trail begins.

PARKING: Vehicles can be parked at the starting point; there is enough space.
ENDING POINT: Riva in Metajna
DIFFICULTY: First part (5 km) 2.5/5, easy to moderately difficult. Second part (5 km) 2/5, easy.
MARKINGS: The trail is marked with hiking signs.
EXPECTED DURATION: +/- 3 hours
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: water, food, sun hat; regular sneakers recommended (hiking boots not necessary).
PROGRAM INCLUDES:
- Guides assigned according to the pace of each group
- Transport by van from the finish point (Metajna) back to the starting point (Žigljen)
Note: The trail is marked, so participants can go at their own pace.
THE PROGRAM IS FREE for all participants, and no prior registration is required.
SCHEDULE:
- 11:00 AM: Gathering of participants and eco-action
- 11:00–11:45 AM: Eco-action
- Departure for the hike: 11:45 AM
- Arrival in Metajna: between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM
ECO-ACTION: Each participant will receive one garbage bag and a section to clean.
RETURN TO STARTING POINT: A van will be on duty from the Riva in Metajna, running every 30 minutes from 2:00–4:00 PM.
Note: The van will transport ONLY drivers, meaning all passengers must show car keys. Drivers will then pick up the rest of their team from the starting point in Metajna.
