The Tourist Board of the City of Novalja won two prestigious awards at this year’s TEF Festival of Tourism and Ethnographic Film, held on September 25–26 in the city of Krk. The third edition of the festival confirmed its international character, presenting a selection of domestic and European films that promote tourism, cultural heritage, and the identity of destinations. The festival program included screenings, panels, and educational content, all culminating in a formal awards ceremony.
Novalja received the top award, the “Golden Island,” for the film Novalja – Your Island Story, as well as the second prize in the “Outdoor Tourism Film” category for the film Hiking Tour Svetojanj.
“These awards belong to our community and our partners, who, through their dedicated work, make Novalja a city tailored to people. We are especially proud that both our identity and our year-round concept—a blend of nature, sport, culture, and local storytelling—have been recognized,” said Marina Šćiran, Director of the Novalja Tourist Board.
The film Your Island Story presents an emotional yet contemporary narrative about staying on the island, highlighting the motifs of the sea and rocky landscapes, local heritage, and an active lifestyle. The film invites visitors to experience Pag and Novalja throughout the year and create their own authentic story.
Meanwhile, Hiking Tour Svetojanj focuses on the outdoor experience and a walking route that combines authentic landscapes with elements of cultural heritage, demonstrating how active tourism naturally complements the destination’s identity.
These awards confirm the quality of Novalja’s promotional films and further highlight the island of Pag as an attractive destination that unites natural beauty, cultural heritage, and active tourism.
